When I met Geoff last summer, we didn’t realize how much we had in common. I joined the team as the Studio Manager, and not long after I started, Geoff learned that he and I are both printmakers! Geoff shared his dream of transforming the P’unk Ave studio into a community-centric space and asked me to help turn the basement of 1168 E. Passyunk Ave into a screen printing studio… AND the rest is history. Nine months later we have a fully functioning silkscreen studio complete with exposure unit, dark room, washout sink, t-shirt press, and printing tables!  So far we have printed our own P’unk Ave Thank You cards and t-shirts, and are so excited for upcoming opportunities to print in-house.

We are also very happy to announce that we will begin holding screen printing and maker classes at P’unk Ave!  Our first class will be an introduction to screen printing with a focus on printing your own edition of Thank You cards.  This class will be a one session workshop, but we’ll soon be offering more workshops and classes this summer.

We are excited to work with local artists and makers alike, including those with informal training.  A theme will be introduced to each class or workshop, and all materials will be included in the class fee.  We will encourage those who join the classes to provide their own imagery inspired by the class theme.

To sign up for our first class please visit : http://punkave.ticketleap.com/thankyoucards/

If you are interested in joining the mailing list for more information on upcoming classes please email : joanna@punkave.com.
